Veterupristisaurus Dinosaur

Veterupristisaurus belongs to the family of carcharodontosaurid theropod dinosaur that had been found existed in the late Jurassic period, from the Middle Dinosaur Member of the Tendaguru Formation, dating to the late Kimmeridgian to earliest Tithonian faunal stage ,over 155-150 million years ago. The fossil remains of the species were first discovered in Woodlands of eastern Africa especially in Tanzania. This carnivore species comes under the classification of Chordata,Dinosauria,Theropoda,Carnosauria,Carcharodontosauria.

There exist three preserved holotype which is the known part of collection of this species. MB R 1938-an isolated middle caudal vertebra, MB R 2166- Two partially fused posterior middle caudal vertebrae, MB R 1940- The anterior caudal vertebra. The species is a large bipedal animal. The distinguishing characteristics of this dinosaur include Large size; narrow jaws; bipedal posture.

From the identified fossil specimen it has been observed that the dinosaur was about 8.5 m (28 ft)-10 m (33 ft) long and the length of the holotype vertebra is about 123 mm. Veterupristisaurus shows similar morphological features with Rauhut and Acrocanthosaurus which is considered as its sister-group.
