Ningyuansaurus is the only known Fossil (preserved remains of animals, plants, and other organisms from the past). The size of Ningyuansaurus is not predictable by the researchers. Ningyuansaurus have large number of teeth when compared to the other classifications of these Genera. It has 10 teeth in its upper Jaw and atleast fourteen teeth in its lower Jaw (dentary). The teeth of Ningyuansaurus do not have any serrations and any kind of special adaptations. The teeth are tightly packed.
The Skull of Ningyuansaurus is comparitively longer and triangular in shape than later Oviraptorosauria (Classification). Ningyuansaurus have feather like body and the eyes are large in size. The lower arms (ulna) of Ningyuansaurus are relatively shorter than the upper arm (humeri) being longer. Ningyuansaurus have long legs and the pelvic bones are comparitively shorter than the upper leg (femur). The tail of Ningyuansaurus is relatively long in size with feather like impressions in the tip of the tail are generally found.
The diet of Ningyuansaurus is uncertain but predicted to be Herbivorous. As per the study and research by the researchers it is difficult to accurately predict what their eating habits were. As per the study they might have either eaten Plants or meat or possibly both. Since the teeth of Ningyuansaurus are tightly packed they have a special kind of diet. Ningyuansaurus have small oval shaped Structures found in their holotype remains. The remains of Ningyuansaurus are only ten millimeter diameter in size; this piece of research indicates that Ningyuansaurus have had seeds in their diet.
